Cambodia Casinos

There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which casino gambling is illegal. Eight casinos are based in a generally tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime destination, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; however, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are allegedly required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is true of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling den, features 150 one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel compound that highlights a number of conveniences on top of the gambling den, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
