Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an appealing background to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a prime location, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling den, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the common table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel compound that highlights numerous conveniences in addition to the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slots and 88 table games.
